Team TLAB, consisting of Kambara-san (Master 2nd) and Asabe-san (Master 2nd), won third place in the Japan Automotive AI Challenge 2022 (Challenge course) held on June 26, 2022, at the University of Tokyo’s Kashiwa Campus. This year’s qualifying round attracted 408 participants from 261 teams, of which 12 teams made it to the finals.
In the Japan Automotive AI Challenge 2022, teams competed to complete challenges using Autoware, an open-source automated driving operating system. In the preliminary rounds, teams drove self-driving cars in a simulation environment on the cloud. In the finals, teams competed to reach the goal while driving through scenarios set up on the course using actual vehicles.
