From September 1st to 5th, 2025, the Cooperative Interactive Vehicles (CIV) Summer School 2025 took place in Blonay, Switzerland. This summer school brought together researchers and students from around the world to explore cutting-edge topics in mobility, autonomous driving, and artificial intelligence. Organized by an international team led by Professor Arnaud de La Fortelle, the program featured lectures, poster sessions, hackathons, as well as social gatherings and a hike in the Swiss Alps.
Associate Professor Manabu Tsukada joined as a member of the Organizing Committee and as a Lecturer, accompanied by 14 staff and students from the Tsukada Laboratory. His lecture, “Communication Foundations for End-to-End Driving”, addressed the essential role of communication technologies in end-to-end autonomous driving. The talk highlighted our recent work on V2X-enabled cooperative perception and maneuver coordination, external human-machine interfaces (eHMI), and communication frameworks that connect both machine-to-machine and machine-to-human interactions.
For our students, the summer school was a valuable opportunity to learn from leading experts, present research in poster sessions, and gain hands-on experience through hackathon projects. Beyond the academic program, participants enjoyed networking during lunches and dinners, and strengthened international friendships while hiking in the scenic surroundings of Blonay.

The CIV Summer School will continue to serve as a unique platform for the next generation of researchers to collaborate internationally and shape the future of mobility. We look forward to the next edition!
