We are delighted to share that Vishal Chauhan, a member of our Tsukada Laboratory, and Anubhav from the Department of Mathematical Informatics, participated in the prestigious OzCHI’24 Student Design Challenge (SDC). This renowned event was held at the OzCHI conference in Brisbane, Australia, from November 30 to December 4, 2024. The conference serves as an international hub for Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and cutting-edge research.
The SDC centered on the theme Beyond Being Human, exploring how HCI extends beyond human interactions to encompass AI and the natural world. Vishal and Anubhav presented their innovative design solution, Reimagining Smart Poles: A Sustainable Interface for Pedestrian-AV Ecosystems. Their idea, which features sustainable smart pole interaction units that facilitate communication between autonomous vehicles (AVs) and pedestrians in shared spaces, was selected as a finalist and received a prestigious award.
Their design aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 9 and 11, promoting innovation and sustainable urban environments. Through a compelling video presentation and digital poster, the team demonstrated their concept, earning high praise from both academic and industry experts.
We extend our warmest congratulations to Vishal, Anubhav, and Megha for their exceptional achievement and for representing our laboratory on this global stage. Their success exemplifies our commitment to fostering innovative research and interdisciplinary collaboration.
