The “NTU-UTokyo Joint Conference 2023” was held on December 7th and 8th, 2023, at the National Taiwan University (NTU) campus in Taipei. This year’s conference theme was “Towards a Sustainable Future: Challenges and Resilience,” and it brought together a total of 300 professors from both the University of Tokyo and NTU. The opening ceremony was conducted by Teruo Fujii, President of the University of Tokyo, and Wen-Chang Chen, President of NTU.
On the first day of the conference, a welcome luncheon was held at La marée (Shuiyuan Wedding Hall), followed by 18 parallel sessions. Among these sessions, there was one on autonomous driving, focusing on the theme of “Energy-aware collaborative perceptions for autonomous vehicles, from chip design to middleware design.” This session featured presentations of research findings by Associate Professor Tsukada, Assistant Professor Javanmardi, and Lecturer Chia-Ming Chang.
- “V2X Communication Technology for Cooperative Automated Driving” by Prof. Manabu Tsukada, University of Tokyo
- “Effective Car-to-Pedestrian Interaction in a Self-driving World” by Dr. Chia-ming Chang, University of Tokyo
- “Cooperative Perception and Localization for Autonomous Driving” by Prof. Ehsan Javanmardi, University of Tokyo
The autonomous driving session covered a wide range of topics, including cooperative perception, V2X communication technology, effective interaction between autonomous vehicles and pedestrians, improving the operating environment for autonomous vehicles, cooperative perception and localization for autonomous driving, and platform-based design for intelligent vehicles.
This conference served as a valuable opportunity to promote international cooperation and innovation between National Taiwan University (NTU) and the University of Tokyo, aiming towards a sustainable future.
